What an inane commentary on Nixon! Nobody writes music to be liked. If you wanted to be liked, you wouldn't choose composing as a profession.

Not to mention that the opera moves from satire, which is very fleeting to begin with, to meditating on the characters motivations. Delivering justice for characters' deeds isn't required of an opera, either.
