The Sally Whitwell recording is one of my favorites from 2011...I had to confirm that Ned Rorem is still alive...Erik Saties' Socrate is new to me via the John Cage four-hand piano arrangement. Classics Today on the recording: "Looking for two large-scale vocal works about iconic visionary leaders condemned to death for stupid reasons (Socrates and Jesus), but minus the singing? Then consider this disc."...Nancarrow's Study for Piano Piano No. 48 is just crazy fun.
