As I grind through this week's new releases on rdio, I have to admit I got a chuckle from this reported track:
Laura (From "Laura")
To explain, the rdio "meta-data" isn't sufficient to necessarily understand the significance of this track.
So of course I turn to the definitive source of knowledge -- youtube and duke ellington:
To elaborate, one reason for my laugh about all this is that the local-spouse is named "Laura."
In addition, I also had a conversation tonight with the local-89-year-old Mom about the Duke where I reminded her that she had told me that she and my Dad had seen Ellington play a dance somewhere in Indiana during the 1940s. By aworks criteria, this is of course "super cool."
However, I have to admit I can't remember why Duke Ellington came up in our conversation tonight.
And to turn this into a "meta-post," writing about meta-data issues after 11pm Pacific time guarantees this will not be a widely-read aworks blog post.
Fortunately, as I've learned over all these blogging years, if you care enough to read this far, you are both musically sophisticated and discerning. But you knew that already...
update: Raskin Raksin

Robert, I believe that it's Raksin, not Raskin.
